The Swans

The Swans

The Swans

Invisible nameless foes
the shadow throws
black roses at the wall
forgotten petals fall
on a white tablecloth
at the Carlyle

Manhattan repartee
champagne in silk shifts
red boots and yellow cabs
maroon crepe slippers
like cat paws of rain drops
spotting the summer dust

Your furious smile
of smoke and sun
is my ruin my river home
winding through rocks
sculpted clouds crowds
of edged memories disperse

Oblique voices bleed and vanish
varnished to a glow of echo
the many views of you and you
