Henry Gould

I am a regular reader of Henry Gould’s blog HG Poetics. His new post about the future of american poetry, his prediction, is so well put i want to link to it here. He coins the term Odd High Formalism (or at least i think he does). The term doesn’t do much for me but the idea does. It’s a common sense one. It’s what I assume many poets have been doing or try to do. Actually, it’s what poets are always up to, but many of us (I will presume it is possible to imagine a we here), have been been disaffected or feel ignored by the mainstream of poetry, even abused by it and that Avant Garde in poetry is an academic avant garde, dogmatic, formalist and irrelevant. Anyway, he says so well things I think about all the time.
